How Forgotten Histories Began

History is rarely a series of isolated events. Every decision has a reason, every family has a story, and every generation inherits the consequences of those who came before. My research has been an attempt to understand not only what happened, but why.

The journey began unexpectedly when a family photograph album, rescued from a church jumble sale, arrived in my hands. On its first page was a name I had never heard before.

For more than thirty years I have explored my own family history and helped others uncover theirs, following forgotten lives through archives, letters, court records and old photographs.

The Forgotten Histories series grew from those discoveries. Each novel begins with real people, real places and surviving historical records. Where the record falls silent, the story is carefully reconstructed from the evidence that remains.
